(1) General

Referees will be asked to provide general details, including their name, role, institution, personal web page and contact information. The referee should be a lecturer with a higher academic and scientific degree. The referee should describe the nature of the relationship with the applicant, and how long have they known them. This document should contain max 2000 characters and should have the title Referee details.

(2) Reference Letter

Referees must provide a reference letter or recommendation in English on a separate sheet of headed paper and send it with the Referees details via e-mail. The document should be in pdf form and no larger than 2MB. Please address references to the ‘Doctoral Programme in Linguistics’. The subject of the e-mail should be REFERENCE LETTER_Candidate’s family name. The recommendation letter should be signed and dated.

In the reference letter, please comment on:

  • The applicant’s academic results to date.
  • The applicant’s academic fitness and general suitability to undertake the proposed course of research or study.
  • If the applicant’s native language is not English, their level of fluency and proficiency in English, particularly in the context of their academic work.
  • Any other information which you think is relevant to the application (e.g. research experience, ability to work independently, key strengths/weaknesses).
(4) Delivery
How to deliver the reference letter:

1)    Send the email  to dpl@ffzg.unizg.hr or doctoral_programe_linguistics@ffzg.unizg.hr  from your institutional address.
2)    Attach the Referee details and Reference letter to the email. Both should be in pdf form.
