REQUIREMENTS FOR APPROVING THE PROPOSAL OF THE DOCTORAL DISSERTATION

The topic of the doctoral dissertation and the PhD supervisor are proposed between the 1st semester at the earliest and the 5th semester at the latest, after which the student submits the synopsis to the OBAD base. The DPL Council approves the topic of the doctoral dissertation if it meets the criteria of scientific excellence, relevance, and innovation. If any of the three criteria are not fully met, or if they are only partially met, the synopsis is returned to the candidate for revision. The DPL Council appoints the Doctoral Topic Assessment Panel and proposes it for approval to the Council of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. With the Faculty Council’s approval of the Assessment panel, the student can defend the dissertation topic proposal. The Panel can require that the synopsis be revised and improved before the final grade is given. The doctoral student enters the required alterations in the synopsis in the OBAD base and submits them for new assessment by the Panel. If all the conditions are met, the Panel awards the student a positive grade.
